A long long time ago I can still remember how

i’ve been remiss in posting. i had meant to do some quasi year in review, but every time i went to type it felt cheesy and forced.  sometimes you have to wait for the words to come to you.

This past year was the year of

• setting up my own private studio.  When we set out to find a new homestead our goals included a library for my husband and a studio for me.  We settled on a beautiful mid century ranch with an out building, the building needed better flooring and power, which it got.  Once that happened real challenges came to light: setting up my space, going from cone 10 reduction to cone 6 oxidation (so math and chemistry), figuring out what I wanted to make (more on that later) and coming to terms with figuring out a schedule for getting that work made (this is where you have to balance work, family and free time)
• multiple jobs (it was my “finding my place phase” and lucky for me the third time was the charm)
• spending every weekend & parts of the week working on that other house (the one that was trashed and required a metric shit ton of labor in order to get it ready to put on the market and sell, because multiple mortgage payments suck.)
• I lucked into getting to sell at Texas Tiki Week and found myself working pretty much two and a half weeks straight while balancing learning the new job, working on the house, and figuring out my glazes) but it was a success and it allowed me to come to terms with what sort of functional work i want to be making.
• Immediately took a breather mostly for pragmatic purposes, also known as focusing on the new job!
• Scored several commissions, many thanks for those that made requests!
• Not only selling some work through Saatchi but being featured as their artist of the day and 5 to watch.
• A collector had an article published about his home and collection, its pretty great to see .  How They Live American Modernisn with Sopot in the Background
